What Would Really Happen If Prince Andrew And Sarah Ferguson Got Married Again?

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have done just about everything together over the past couple of decades. Not only do they spend a lot of time together, but they also travel together, they confide in one another, and they support each other, which is key in any relationship. In August, the two were seen driving together to Balmoral, where they visited with Andrew’s mother, Queen Elizabeth, according to Vanity Fair. While both Sarah and Andrew seem to maintain that they are both content with the way things are, it’s entirely possible that they could exchange vows once more. If that happens, there are a few things that would change.

Although Sarah is still the Duchess of York, she lost her “HRH” title when she and Andrew divorced, according to Insider. If she and Andrew decided to wed again, she could become Her Royal Highness, Sarah, Duchess of York, which would make her a senior member of the royal family, the outlet reports. “The HRH marks the dividing line between those members of the royal family engaged in active service to the monarchy and the nation, and those who lead more private lives unfettered by public duties,” according to History Extra. While accepting the title may not be a requirement, as Insider points out, Sarah will undoubtedly be offered it. “It is hard to see how she would not become once again an HRH,” royal biographer Nigel Cawthorne told Insider.
